Question: Who is Jai McDowall and how did he become famous?
Answer: Jai McDowall is a singer who shot to fame in 2011 by wining series five of the ITV talent show Britain Got Talent. Jai was born on JULY 24th 1986 in Tarbolton which is in Ayrshire, Scotland.
Before entering Britain’s Got Talent McDowall studied Music and Audio Tech at Ayr College then later began working with young disabled people as a support worker.
In his initial audition on BGT Jai performed the little known song Anthem from the musical Chess:
This great audition impressed the judges and saw the Scot through to the live semi-finals where he sang a rather unique version of the Evanescence hit Bring Me To Life:
After that tremendous performance which stole the show Jai McDowall had now become a real contender to win the whole series. Jai had now earned a place in the final of Britain’s Got Talent where he sang Josh Groban’s To Where You Are:
That performance won Jai the title of Britain’s Got Talent Winner 2011, he then went on to release his first album later that year which was entitled Believe. The first song released from this album was a cover of the U2 classic With Or Without You.
Jai McDowall’s second album is set for release in early 2013 which will feature the new song Better than a Broken Heart.
