Melanie Masson Losses Public Vote on The X Factor

Week two of the X Factor live shows saw Melanie Masson eliminated after the judges sent it to deadlock. This weekends public vote left the 44 year old singer in the bottom two along with boy band District3.

In the sing off both acts put in a good vocal performance showing what they can really do when they just focus on the singing. First up District3 sang a decent version of the Bryan Adams hit, (Everything I Do) I Do It For You.

Melanie Masson then gave a typically powerful rendition of the Bette Midler song Stay With Me Baby which was also a hit for Welsh star Duffy.

Judges Nicole Scherzinger and Gary Barlow each voted to send home District3 while Louis Walsh and Tulisa went with Melanie. This tie meant it went to deadlock where it comes down to the public vote.

Host Dermot O’Leary then revealed Melanie had received the fewest votes and would be leaving the competition.

Despite being voted off Melanie didn’t appear too upset, saying she had “Loved every second”.

X Factor 2012’s “Joke Act” Rylan Clarke escaped the sing off despite previously being the bookies favorite to go out this week. This could perhaps be a sign the Essex singer is beginning to develop a cult following among the UK public.

At the other end of the scale, series favorite Ella Henderson stayed on track for success with her faultless cover of the vocally challenging Lovin’ You. The 16 year old star has yet to put a foot wrong in this years competition.
