Are you supposed to Shake a Polaroid picture?

According to camera company Polaroid you should not shake a Polaroid photograph while waiting for it to develop. They say it can cause damage or distortion to the image.

This is of course in contrary to the Outcast song which features the line, Shake it like a Polaroid.
