Question: When are the next Commonwealth Games being held?

Answer: The XX Commonwealth Games are being held in Glasgow from Thursday the 24th of July to Sunday the 3rd of August, 2014.

The games will see 72 Commonwealth Nations compete in 261 events across 17 sports.

Celtic Park, home of Celtic Football Club will host the opening ceremony while Hampden Park, Scotland’s National Stadium stages the closing ceremony.

The Commonwealth Games take place once every four years with the first ever games being held back in 1930.

There were only two candidate cities competing to hold these 2014 Games: Glasgow, Scotland and Abuja Nigeria. After one round of voting Glasgow won the bid 47 votes to 24.
