Where is BBC Stargazing Live Broadcast From?

Answer: BBC Stargazing Live is Broadcast from the Joderall Bank Observatory in Lower Withington, Cheshire, England.

During an episode of Stargazing Live there are multiple outside broadcast units and pre-recorded films but the main “studio” segments with Prof Brian Cox and Dara O’Briain are filmed live in and around the observatory.

Joderall Bank is home to a number of radio telescopes, the largest of which is the Lovell Telescope. Lovell is the third biggest radio telescope in the world that is steerable.

The Joderall Observatory is part of the University of Manchester’s Centre for Astrophysics and was first established in 1945. The site has been the base for the BBC series Stargazing Live since 2011.
