Who Hit a Golf Ball on the Moon?

Who was the astronaut that played golf on the Moon?

The first astronaut to play golf on the surface of the moon was Alan Shepard. Shepard was the commander of the Apollo 14 mission and while on the moon he used the head of a 6 Iron golf club which he fixed to the end of his sampling arm device.

Astronauts used their sampling arms for picking up rock samples off the ground, Alan Shepard used his improvised golf club to hit two shots on the lunar terrain.

Due to the moon only creating 1/6th of earths gravitational force it is possible to hit a golf ball much higher and further there than here on earth.

Once back home Shepard presented the club to entertainer and keen golfer Bob Hope.
