Who originally sang Fields of Gold?

Question: Who first sang the song that goes ‘When we walked in the fields of gold’?

Answer: The popular song Fields of Gold was originally written and sung in 1993 by the British artist Sting.

Real name Gordon Summer, Sting released the track as part of the album ‘Ten Summoner’s Tales’.

Since then the song has been covered by many different singers and groups over the years including Cliff Richard and Barry Gibb, Celtic Woman and Michael Ball.

The most famous cover version of Fields of Gold though and arguably the best was performed by the late, great American singer Eva Cassidy.
