Answer: The Final Countdown which was a number 1 hit in 25 different countries was written and performed by the Swedish glam rock band Europe.

By far their most famous hit, the single was released in 1986 with it’s lyrics written by the bands lead singer Joey Tempest.

The song, which features a very distinctive keyboard rift along with a very fast guitar solo was the first track released off of Europe’s third album, also entitled The Final Countdown.

Though not with all the original line-up, the Stockholm band is still touring to this day and remain very popular among rock fans.
