Answer: Last years Grand National race was won by the French racehorse Neptune Collonges who was ridden by Ireland’s Daryl Jacob.

Though Neptune was bred in France, the now retired thoroughbred was trained in Somerset, England by Paul Nicholls.

Going into the 2012 National, bookmakers had the eventual winner down as a 33/1 outsider to take first place.

In winning the race, Neptune Collonges took prize money of over half a million pounds.
