Who’s Replacing Jake Humphrey on F1?

Who’s replacing Jake Humphrey as host of the BBC’s F1 coverage?

Taking Jake’s place as the host of F1 on the BBC is former Gadget Show presenter Suzi Perry.

In addition to the Gadget Show, Perry has already worked on BBC’s motor sport programming having previously hosted their MotoGP coverage for 10 seasons.

Former host Jake Humphrey surprisingly quit his role at the BBC late last year, instead choosing a move to BT Vision to present their Premier League Football coverage. This decision confirmed what many viewers had already believed, that Formula 1 was never Jake’s true passion.

In contrast though Suzi Perry has always come across as a true motor racing fan, albeit previously of the two wheeled variety. Speaking to the BBC Suzi stated that “Motorsport is my life”.

To get the job, Perry had to beat off a number of other contenders including BBC pit plane interviewer Lee McKenzie. After the mass exodus of faces from the BBC F1 crew over the last year or so (mostly to SKY) Lee must be left wondering what she has to do to get a promotion.

Once again the BBC’s televised coverage will be limited to 10 live F1 races in 2013 with extended highlights being broadcast of the remaining 10.
