How much money did Liverpool Football Club pay to buy forward Mohamed Salah?

Liverpool signed Egyptian international Mo Salah in June, 2016 for a reported transfer fee of £34.3 million (around €42m). The winger was bought from Italian club Roma, after they previously purchased him from English Premier League side Chelsea.

At the time, that £34.3m price tag may have appeared rather high to many fans of the Merseyside team, especially considering Salah only netted twice for Chelsea in 13 appearances. But since arriving at Anfield, the new number 11 just can’t stopped scoring.

Using an impressive combination of pace, fast footwork and clinical finishing, Salah has already broken many Liverpool goal scoring records and even put four past Watford in a 5-0 home league win.

Given the type of money being paid in today’s transfer market, that cost of £34.3 million is now looking like one of footballs biggest ever bargains. So surely if a massive club like Barcelona or Real Madrid wanted to prise the marksman away from Anfield now, they’d have to put a 1 in front of that number.

Of course, with Philippe Coutinho having already been lured away to Spain during the winter transfer window, many Liverpool supporters will be hoping history doesn’t repeat itself with their latest star player. Only time will tell.
