Despite his nerves, bookmakers are now ranking supermarket worker Jahmene Douglas the second favorite to win the UK X Factor 2012.
Right from Jahmene’s first audition in London where he sang the Etta James classic, At Last the 22 year old has been a firm favorite among X Factor viewers.
Jahmene’s popularity isn’t restricted to the UK either, his vocals are also said to be receiving lots of attention in America.
So far during the series Jahmene has been suffering with tremendous nerves before and sometimes during his performances. These nerves had a noticeable effect on some of his vocals at bootcamp and judges houses.
Fortunately though after her initial doubts, mentor Nicole Scherzinger took a gamble and put the Asda worker through to the live finals, well how couldn’t she?
Anyway, week one of the live finals saw Jahmene justify Nicole’s faith in him with his unique version of John Lennon’s Imagine.
Normally you’d say Imagine is one of those songs you just shouldn’t touch but despite it being very different to the original, Jahmene pulled it off.
It was this excellent vocal that helped make the Swindon native one of the favorites to take this years title currently only second to 16 year old Ella Henderson, but there’s no shame in that. Plus finishing second might not end up being a bad thing for Jahmene Douglas anyway as history has shown, the runner’s up often go on to achieve more success and credibility than the winners.
