When is the new Star Wars movie due to be coming out?

Star Wars episode 7 and the first since being bought by Walt Disney currently has a release date set for 2015. According to Disney, this will be the first of three new movie installments.

Already confirmed for the new Star Wars film is director J.J. Abrams who was the man behind the highly popular TV series ‘Lost’.

Former Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy will oversee production while the script will come courtesy of Oscar winning ‘Toy Story 3’ writer Michael Arndt.

Acting as a consultant will be ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and ‘Return of the Jedi’ writer, Lawrence Kasdan.

Abrams is said to be a huge Star Wars fan and someone who has a great understanding of the franchise. He was quoted as saying being chosen for the job was an “absolute honor”.

It appears Star Wars creator George Lucas also approves of the appointment, saying J.J. is an “ideal choice”.
