Question: Where did the boy band One Direction get their name from?

Answer: After being put together on the X Factor in 2010, band member Harry Styles thought up the name ‘One Direction’.

It’s said that Harry came up with that particular name because the group wanted to go in one direction, straight to the top in the music industry.

Despite a claim by an American band in 2012 that they had already taken the name, the British group held on to their title and are now famous all around the world.

With the backing of their record company, Simon Cowell’s SyCo label, there was no way the UK One Direction were ever going to change their name.
