The Maya are not confirmed to the history books though, over six million of them are still living in Central America.

Although the Maya have been around since 2,000 BC it was between 300 and 900 AD that they fully established their advanced culture and civilization.

Amongst other things, the Maya are most noted for developing one of the earliest forms of written language in the Americas and having a great understanding of mathematics, architecture and astronomy for the time.
