Where is the Top Gear Track and Studio?

Question: Where is the Top Gear studio and test track located where the BBC show is filmed?

Answer: The studio and track segments of BBC’s motoring show Top Gear are filmed at the Dunsfold Areodrome in Dunsfold, Surry, England.

The track and studio are located at a former Air Force base which was built during World War II and used by the Royal Canadian Air Force.

The test track itself, used by the presenters and The Stig has a figure of eight style layout was designed by the British sports car manufacture Lotus. The track is regularly used on the show both for testing new high performance cars and the ‘Star in a Reasonably Priced Car’ section.

The layout of the circuit is defined simply by painted lines and basically where the tarmace ends, there are no proper curbs like you find at most official race circuits.

The worldwide popularity of BBC’s Top Gear has even resulted in the track being digitally recreated in both Sony’s PS3 game ‘Gran Turismo 5’ and ‘Forza Motorsport 4’ for the XBOX 360.
