Which Film Has Won the Most Oscars?

Question: Which single film has won the most ever Oscars?

Answer: The record for the most Academy Awards won by one movie is currently shared by three different films.

Ben-Hur, Titanic and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King have each won 11 Oscars.

The historical Roman epic Ben-Hur which stared Charlton Heston and was directed by William Wyler first set the record in 1959.

James Cameron’s Titanic starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet then equaled the achievement in 1997.

Then most recently the third and final chapter in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Return of the King, directed by Peter Jackson again equaled the record by picking up 11 Academy Awards.

The record for the most Oscar nominations received is also tied, this time between Titanic and the 1950 Bette Davis film, All About Eve with 14 each.
