However despite the Confederate leader General Lee surrendering on April 9, fighting still continued for another month until May 9, 1965.

The US Civil War was eventually won by the Northern Union States, led by President Abraham Lincoln who himself was assassinated on April 14, 1965.

The war was fought between the United States Union (The North) and the Confederate States (The South).
